Tobacco kills, so what?

Everybody wants to sue tobacco companies because they are trying to hide the fact that smoking causes cancer.

Why aren't people suing the alcohol industry since alcohol is proved to cause cancer as well?

Am I stupid or why don't I get this?

Swedish government already sold their share of Absolut vodka since they thought that it wasn't ethical to be involved in in a business that isn't good for the people. Wise decision.

I have never heard anyone getting cancer passively while others are drinking. Comparing of tobacco and alcohol doesn´t work like that.

Sweden still has it's Systembolaget, government owned monopol company delivering alcoholic drinks for it's people. In that sense it sounds quite hypocritical to talk about any ethics, no matter how many brands they've been selling out.

At the same time Sweden and many other countries face the options between allowing everyone to sell alcohol and making alcohol totally illegal. After those options regulated alcohol sales sounds like a pretty decent idea.

I'm against regulation and restrictions but people are not ready for that kind of world quite yet.

And besides passive smoking is made quite difficult these days so the days of death caused by passive smoking will soon be a thing of the past.

Oh by the way, I've heard of people getting killed because being around drunken people in the hamburger place queuing at 4 a.m. And pedestrian run over by drunken people so one could say that passive alcohol does kill.

A car or a knife in your chest is no cancer but the end result is the same. Those people were innocent unlike the guy who smoked shit his/her whole life knowing it can't be anything healthy.
